Minnesota Young DFL Endorses Raymond Dehn for Mayor of Minneapolis

JULY 31, 2017 MINNEAPOLIS — Last week, the Minnesota Young DFL (MYDFL) announced they are endorsing Raymond Dehn for Mayor of Minneapolis.

“Ray champions young voices and his dynamic leadership has brought together a coalition of young people of all backgrounds,” said MYDFL President, Alex Boutrous. “Ray’s proactive approach to governance will allow every young person the same opportunities for success. His bold vision for and commitment to investing in our communities and dismantling the violence of our existing system makes him the best choice for mayor. The Minnesota Young DFL is proud to support a candidate with a comprehensive vision for a truly equitable Minneapolis.”

“It is an honor to receive the MYDFL endorsement,” said Ray. “Youth are the most powerful constituency in our nation. As a society, we’ve spent a lot of time convincing them otherwise, countering their passion and inevitable stake in the future as idealistic. I am focused on reaching out to traditionally marginalized communities, young people are a large part of that work. My campaign reflects these values—the average age of my core team is 24 years.”

Raymond Dehn, a fourth-generation Northsider and University of Minnesota graduate, is a three-term State Representative serving District 59B, which includes the Northside, Bryn Mawr, North Loop, Elliott Park, and Downtown. During his time at the Capitol, he has raised the minimum wage, championed bipartisan criminal justice reform, and expanded access to healthcare. He lives in the Jordan neighborhood of Minneapolis.
